Safeguarding

Safety, boundaries and responsible support.

Calm & Steady is a lived-experience gambling harm awareness and support project. It is not a crisis service, clinical service, counselling service or financial advice service.

This page explains the boundaries of the project and what to do if someone is at risk.

Not a crisis service

Do not wait for an email reply

Craig may not be able to respond immediately. If someone is unsafe, use emergency or specialist support routes.

Not clinical advice

No diagnosis or treatment

Calm & Steady does not provide counselling, therapy, clinical assessment, diagnosis or medical advice.

Not financial advice

Use qualified support

For debt, money, legal or financial decisions, speak with qualified organisations or professionals.

How Calm & Steady is framed

Awareness, prevention and signposting.

Calm & Steady focuses on earlier, calmer support around high-risk gambling harm moments: urges, chasing losses, payday risk, relapse, shame and isolation.

The project encourages people to pause, reduce immediate risk, tell the truth, contact appropriate support and avoid carrying harm alone.

If contact raises concern

Safety comes first.

If someone contacts Calm & Steady and appears to be at immediate risk, the response will be to encourage urgent support and appropriate safeguarding action where needed.

Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is serious risk of harm to a person, child, vulnerable adult or others.
